A lemon drop passed as your guests arrive won’t only taste delicious but look fabulous too! I enclosed one of my favorite recipes. Instead of cupcakes or one big dessert look how precious this multi-cakes look..I found this picture on Marthastewart.com (love her!) The shower gal has to look chic, I found this scrumptious dress on Katespade.com. Cute gift idea…Anthropologie.com for this unique frame and darling pot holder. I loved this frozen drink blender found at william-sonoma.com. Lemon Drop Martini

1 1/2 ounces vodka (use a good-quality vodka)
1/2 ounce orange liqueur (Triple Sec, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, etc.)
1 teaspoon superfine sugar or to taste*
3/4 ounce freshly-squeezed lemon juice
Ice cubes
Superfine sugar for dipping
Twisted peel of lemon

* Superfine sugar is instantly dissolving sugar that is typically used in drinks. If you want to avoid the shaking, make a Basic Simple Syrup Recipe to use in place of the sugar.

Mix the vodka, orange liqueur, sugar, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice; shake well (supposedly the cocktail is to be shaken 40 times to make sure the sugar is well blended).

Pour strained liquor into sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with a twisted peel of lemon.

NOTE: To create a sugar-rimmed glass, take a lemon wedge and rub the drinking surface of the glass so it is barely moist. Dip the edge of the glass into the superfine sugar.

Makes 1 serving.

Very fun Bat Mitzvah this past weekend! It was a a Travel Theme for our beautiful Bat Mitzvah Girl Tess. We took it seriously from the beginning,  making the guests check in with our VIP agents to receive their passports to the country they would be traveling to and their table assignment.The client supplied a picture of each guest for us to put inside. Lehr and Black did a beautiful job with the holders!  The client let us know which guests had a good sense of humor and we then we sent them to our Italian security guards to be questioned! As the guests walked down the staircase towards the Crystal Ballroom at the Beverly Hills Hotel, they could easily see the “unclaimed baggage” piled up and way up on top some fabulous flowers resting in a vintage cosmetic suitcase. As they continued on, an air traffic guide directed them to the Customs Booths. The guests had to have their passports stamped before they entered the airline lounge for cocktails and hors de oeuvres. The London Guards kept guard of the ballroom doors so no guests could enter. Travel Posters and aluminum furnishings filled the foyer. When the guards opened the doors each table had beautiful amazing florals representing a travel destination. The flowers were designed by the very talented Eric Buterbaugh and of course his multi talented staff lead by the artistic Dennis! The client wanted us to cover the enormous chandelier that hangs in the center of the room. Romina from Revelry designed a vintage style map/globe to hang above the dance floor. Fun travel banners  of Tess designed by Bob from Popink helped fill up the room. A delicious candy shop at the end of the evening left all the guests saying SWEET! Enjoy the pics

A few weeks ago we coordinated a Bat Mitzvah where the family just wanted a touch of Moroccan without feeling like they were actually there. The sweet 13 year old loved the jewel toned colors and wanted beautiful not themed flowers for the table. The tent was draped in burgundy and we tried these unique chandeliers for a change.During cocktails, the client loved the idea of one large display of flowers and candles floating in their pool instead of several smaller pieces. Sophisticated taste for a 13 year old and may inspire some of my brides!  Enjoy the pics. xox Mindy

I must say this B’nai Mitzvah (bar Mitzvah for twins) turned out to be one of my favorites. I’ve been blessed to be able to decorate several events with fun themes but this one just came together so nicely! The boys loved formula 1 racing. Especially Ferrari’s! Always with boys I find there is a bit of a challenge to make sure the decor is not too feminine in any way. You will see that Mark from Marks Garden did an amazing  job incorporating flowers with race cars…Take a look at the kids area…we designed the coffee tables out of tires and the round lounge couches with race flags coming out the top … fabulous! Thanks Romina and Edgar!

The panels which hid the old wood walls at the country club were dressed in grey and white and sponsor logo decals (like at the races) were place strategically around the room..Thanks Bob!

We had a tented  outside area which we draped in red and hung fabulous light boxes again with logos that lit the game area for the kids.

We placed 6 plasmas on the stage to add dimension. The plasmas showed car racing and the black and white checked dance boxes were crowded by the kids all night. Of course my favorite part were the tables. The linens were grey with white welting. Black and white checked cushion covers and orange napkins. The menus and napkin rings were designed by my friend ellen and really helped to tie it all together!
