Finds from the Flea Market

Hi well I just went to “LOOK:” today at the Santa Monica Flea Market. I love getting lost in all the history and delicious treasures one can observe from afar…I think I got too close today and could not resist some items that I HAD to HAVE. Those of you who have the “BUG” understand my needs…I first started with the glass jars with the numbers. I thought they would be so cute for a baby shower I’m doing. Not sure what I will do with them but loved them…then…I found these wonderful wooden number stamps…at first it was about the case it came in but when I turned over the numbers and saw the die cut typestyle well they were darling..would be so fabulous for stamping the inside of seating cards with the table numbers and for price tags at my market. Some of you know my weakness for oil paintings of women. I found a beautiful one today. The best part is this beautiful lady looks like she is at a luncheon…ahhhh so happy I found her! And last but not least, my hubby and I could not resist this fabulous game table. The paint is gorgeous red…asian design is magical and even has a matching design on the table pad itself. Now I have the excuse to get back to playing Maj Jongg…Oh I also got a beautiful inlaid cigarette box…I do not promote anything with cigarettes but I thought this was cool especially the little ashtray that looks like a little drawer…enjoy the pics.

Finds From The Flea Market

"Hot" Item!

OK Friends here is an item that I just love and bought for my e-store at Mindyweiss.com. These cute bags are for your Curling irons when traveling or getting dressed in bathrooms like us wedding planners :) ! You know how you have to give your hair one more “go over” before you have to leave but you want to take your curling iron with you or you are traveling and it is too hot to pack? Well this traveling pouch for your curling iron is lined in a heat resistant material that allows you to pack it while it is cooling down! Great for us event planners when we have about 10 minutes (if that) to get dressed and look half way decent for our events. Who has time for the iron to cool down we could miss half the party So I love this…anything that is a time saver and makes or lives 5 minutes easier is for me and only $18.00! Comes in a leopard patent leather and black patent leather.

Oh Baby What A Shower

Hi Friends…I know I talk about Weddings day in and day out but I got to tell you the truth I LOVE BABY SHOWERS!  The day before the shower at about 3:00pm the grandma thought it would be cute to take the future mom and dad’s baby picture and but ithem on onesies…hmmm kinkos doesn’t do that anymore so I went to staples (well my neice went to Staples) and bought a package of transfer paper. I couldn’t believe how easy it was and look how cute… The future mom to be did not know the sex of the baby so we went with a lavender and green color theme.  My favorite thing was all the ribbons we tied onto the umbrella spokes. Some of them had crystals hanging from them and we mixed striped, check, dotted and solid ribbons. I loved the ideas that my clients had. She asked me to find wooden toys for the centerpieces. We placed them on pods of moss and added some hydrangea and cymbidium orchids. The party favor was a bottle of “Milk” bath..the little card attached had a double entendre… We added colored lanterns just to fill in the walkway and add color to some of the trees. Not expensive if they are not electrified.

The client asked us to make a couple of Mobiles using pictures they supplied  and they worked out great! We used embroidery hoops to hang the pictures and baby goodies from. The guests took a guess at what the baby would be and left a wish for the future mom. I bought a traditional bulletin board to put the wishes on. They also were able to design a onesie, burp cloth or bib for the new baby. We set up a table filled with trims, fabric paint pens and puffy paint. I was going to include buttons but my client reminded me that the baby could choke on them…hellooo why didn’t I think of that with 3 kids of my own???  When they were done creating their masterpiece for the baby we hung the item on a clothesline with vintage wooden clothespins.

One of the waiters noticed that the guests might trip on a step to get to the party area. He took some extra baby patterned  ribbon from the arts and crafts table and taped it on the edge…GREAT idea…A fun look if you have a pool in the backyard is to fill it with balloons…large ones that are weighted down…whimsical and colorful  I had an extra toy so we used it on the bar …every detail counts :) …it was a fun day for all…enjoy the pics!
