Well I thought I would start your weekend with a giggle or probably for some horror…This picture was given to me by my friend and photographer Bob Davis. I was looking at his website and saw this picture and asked him immediately to please send it to me! I know alot of you couples out there are thinking OH MI G-d…”if that happened to us it would ruin our whole wedding!” But here is my point. You put hours, days and years into planning your wedding. You have felt every emotion possible probably in the process…even emotions you didn’t know existed
The big day arrives and not everything you had hoped for went like planned. But then you find yourself looking around ….
The flowers that were suppose to be peonies (you choose your date solely around the time they were in bloom) never made it to the florist because the airport was shut down. Your friends and family continue to come up to you drooling over your centerpieces. Commenting how they would “LOVE to take them home!”
You forget your first dance routine after taking 3 months of private lessons. But as everyone watches you they are only wishing that they could look and feel as in love.
The delicious menu that you spent hours planning and tasting and making sure it would meet all of your guests needs is getting cold because the band is so good they dont want to sit down to eat.
After hours of very careful calculation of trying to seat your guests at the perfect table with all the right people you see a group of friends (probably your closest friends) switching tables but you realize they are laughing and toasting you and your partner on a great wedding!
Your gown that you spent hours making sure fits you to perfection, and the bussel is just right so it doesn’t drag on the ground while dancing, tears, after a very loving aunt steps on it. The only way now to repair it is by using safety pins that everyone can see from behind. But the future brides at the wedding stare at you and can only wish they looked half as beautiful as you.
And as you cut the first piece of cake (the perfect cake you choose and tasted after looking through 10 magazines a month ) as man and wife begins to tumble to the floor, the guests look at the two of you in shock as you laugh and think to yourself….GETTING MARRIED…PIECE OF CAKE!

great picture mindy! i hope my wedding turns out just like this…except for the cake part
Haha I love it! Thanks for sharing. This post is great, and it is so helpful for someone likes me who loves to plan every minute detail. Thank you for reminding me that it’s all about enjoying the day, rather than worrying over whether the napkins match the tablecloths.
P.S. Love your blog and book!
Oh my word! Everyone that knows me, knows how much of a cake fan I am. The cake will be one of the highlights on my wedding day. This picture could be my biggest nightmare. But I guess I need to focus on the good things and just let go. I’ve been told by many friends to do that. I can be very controlling on every aspect of the planning process. I know I need to accept what comes our way and just move on. Hopefully, I can make it happen.
This is the greatest picture ever!!!! AMAZING! What a great photographer to capture those little, well I guess not so little, moments.
Your website and blog is so wonderful and always filled with the best ideas. So excited to see you on Facebook too-
